One dog can be a lot of work. Two dogs will definitely keep you busy. It takes a special family, however, to handle SEVEN dogs! Elizabeth and Rick Cornell of southeast Michigan share their home with seven large rescue dogs of various ages and breeds. We were introduced to Elizabeth by her local DogWatch Dealers, David and Kathy Downey of DogWatch by Laughing Labrador. We spoke to Elizabeth recently about her passion for animal rescue, managing some of her dogs’ medical needs, and life with her “crazy pack of dogs”!

This month’s Dog Tails Dog of the Month goes to a distinguished older gentleman who recently joined the DogWatch family. Carmen is a 9 year-old Shih Tzu who was rescued from a hoarding situation and adopted by Trixie and Keith Bailey of DogWatch of Southeastern Ontario last July. Carmen is a survivor, and his story shines a light on the many wonderful senior dogs in need who are looking for forever homes to live out their golden years.

DogWatch celebrates National Mutt Day

5 Reasons Why Mutts Rule!

Happy National Mutt Day! Held twice a year on July 31st and December 2nd, this holiday is all about “embracing, saving and celebrating mixed breed dogs,” according to event founder Colleen Paige. In addition to celebrating the uniqueness of mutts, National Mutt Day also brings attention to the many mixed breed dogs currently searching for homes.

So in honor of this fun day and this worthy cause, we’ve put together a list of five reasons why we love mutts! We’ve included photos of some fabulous mixed breed dogs submitted by our Facebook fans. Thanks to all who contributed. Now let’s celebrate, and help more mutts find their forever homes!
