The Canadian Kennel Club recently released their annual survey of the most popular dog breeds in Canada in 2018.  No surprise, the Labrador Retriever held on to its number one ranking as the most popular dog breed in the country. The beloved Lab, also very popular in the United States, has held the top spot on CKC’s list for over two decades.

The big news this year is the debut of the Portuguese Water Dog, which cracked the top 10 for the first time. This smart, fun-loving working dog continues to grow in popularity in Canada. Fans include Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who brought home Kenzie, a Portuguese Water Dog puppy, in 2016.
