The Top 10 Most Popular Dog Breeds in America in 2022

Stop the presses! Today, the American Kennel Club announced that, for the first time in 31 years, there is a new top dog breed in the USA. The French Bulldog is now the most popular dog breed in the country, surpassing the Labrador Retriever to earn the top spot on their annual survey of the most popular dog breeds in America. The AKC based their list on the number of registrations received in 2022.

The Labrador Retriever moved to #2 spot, ending a remarkable 31-year run at #1. Rounding out the top five are the Golden Retriever (#3), the German Shepherd (#4) and the Poodle (#5).
