The Top 10 Most Popular Dog Breeds in America in 2020
Today, the American Kennel Club announced that, for the 30th year in a row, the Labrador Retriever has earned the top spot on their annual survey of the most popular dog breeds in America. The AKC based their list on the number of registrations received in 2020.
For the first time, the French Bulldog earned the #2 spot on the list, bumping the German Shepherd and Golden Retriever to #3 and #4, respectively. There is one new arrival on the list – the Dachshund, who jumped up from 12th place in 2019 to the 10th spot in 2020.

The Top 10 Most Popular Dog Breeds in America in 2019
This month, the American Kennel Club announced the results of their annual survey of the most popular dog breeds in America, and for the 29th year in a row, the Labrador Retriever took the top spot. The AKC based their list on the number of registrations received in 2019.
Labrador Retrievers are not the only hold-over, though. In fact, this year’s top 5 breeds are the same as last year’s. There is one new arrival on the list – the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, in the 10th spot. This diminutive herding dog cracked the top ten for the very first time!
